The European University of Post-Industrial Cities - Boosting mobility & inclusion for societal impact
Status | In progress |

Acronym | UNIC |
Summary | The European University of Post-Industrial Cities (UNIC) is an alliance of eight universities in post-industrial cities which all face similar challenges and opportunities in terms of mobility, inclusion and diversity. The joint research excellence from the IMISCOE Research Network on International Migration, Integration and Cohesion in Europe and the expertise on mobility, inclusion and diversity, make the UNIC bond a ‘natural’ alliance: it reflects a strong European post-industrial identity by shaping a new generation of Europeans, who are able to cooperate and work within different European and global cultures, in different languages, and across borders, sectors and academic disciplines. We are partners in our endeavour to enhance and broaden regional high-quality education and research through inter-European cooperation to offer students a true European learning, teaching and working experience. We will combine our educational and research experiences and devise new models for inter-culturally respectful interaction both within our classrooms and within our cities. Our students and staff will contribute innovative ideas and practices to our post-industrial cities to promote a successful and inclusive urban future where academia meets the city. We will provide a model that will help other European universities boost mobility and inclusion for societal impact. UNIC will make the partner’s universities true agents of change in the transformation of post-industrial work and life in Europe. |
