Green infrastructure InterACTive management and regeneration tested through River Drava Forest Park in Varaždin

| Summary | The Agglomeration of Varaždin and Ludbreg is situated in the north Croatia, in Varaždin County. Varaždin and Ludbreg are cities with long tradition, rich history and architecture. River Drava Forest Park is a complex of 90 ha of protected nature. This is an area of high strategic interest to the Agglomeration. Management difficulties of city green areas are numerous. For the Drava park additional difficulties lie in the fact that this area has 4 levels of protection: - Croatia/Hungary Mura-Drava-Danube Biosphere Reserve - Natura 2000 - Regional park Mura – Drava - Protected Forest-park - Botanical nature monument. Despite enormous natural and recreational potential, today it is a neglected and underused space, in need of forest regeneration processes and infrastructure revitalisation. The project is trying to close the circle between citizens, decision-makers (the city) and experts by using existing diverse digital tools, put together in a new and innovative way in the form of the PLATFORM. The PLATFORM will provide digital interdisciplinary management of Drava Forest Park, united under one user interface to serve in decision making and communication between all the shareholders, for timely, direct and sustainable managment. It will serve the citizens who want to visit or acquire information on this quadruply protected natural area of international importance. The infrastructure and forest regeneration activities will result in high quality, inclusive and safe public space. |
