Development of a Learning Analytics System Linked to Learning Design Using Artificial Intelligence

| Summary | The fundamental idea is to strengthen the research base within the Learning Analytics Laboratory (FOI) through the development of a pilot model of a learning analytics system that will enable the collection, storage, and integration of data as a foundation for further research using learning analytics methods, including artificial intelligence methods. The pilot model would include data from the BDP learning design system, the Moodle learning management system, and would focus on mathematics courses and project management courses taught by collaborators involved in this project. The research group would generate relevant research questions related to learning design, teaching innovation, and other topics that can be addressed using learning analytics methods. Particular attention would be given to studying methods and algorithms that can help answer the defined research questions. Finally, and especially importantly, attention would be devoted to the trustworthiness of learning analytics and to the strategic planning of implementing a learning analytics system at the institutional level and beyond. |
