Dynamic Valuation of Decentralized Blockchain Platforms for Socially and Economically Sustainable Financial Innovation

Status In progress
Acronym DEFI-SUSTAIN
Summary The aim of this research project is to develop a dynamic valuation model of decentralized blockchain platforms that enable innovative, transparent, and accessible financial services. The primary focus is on infrastructural protocols such as the Ethereum network, with a methodological application of System Dynamics and Agent-Based Modeling (ABM). The model will include variables such as the number of users, revenue from gas fees and staking, network security, and token volatility, and will subsequently be calibrated using real-world data obtained through publicly available APIs. The project also incorporates socially relevant examples of digital financial solutions, with an emphasis on European blockchain initiatives aimed at microfinance and fostering financial inclusion. The expected outputs include functional valuation models, scientific publications, and open simulation tools that may be useful to regulators and financial policymakers. In this way, the project contributes to the development of innovative methodologies for valuing digital assets, as well as to achieving the strategic goals of digital and green transition. Additionally, it promotes access to financial services for a wider population through the development of sustainable and inclusive DeFi innovations.
