The role of large language models in advancing teaching and learning methods in the fields of programming and communication disciplines – LLMEdu

Summary The project explores the application of large language models (LLMs) and generative artificial intelligence in modernizing teaching and learning methods, with a particular focus on programming, computer game development, and communication-related disciplines, including the teaching of English as a foreign language. It will also examine the use of LLMs for automated generation and administration of (self-)assessment questionnaires, as well as multiple‑choice knowledge tests. The key modules of the proposed project include the use of LLMs and generative AI for: (1) innovating the teaching of programming; (2) enhancing instructional methods for video game development; (3) investigating students’ mental models of LLMs; (4) innovating the teaching of English for Specific Purposes (ESP).
